Homemade Fresh Mozzarella!!

Last week we were on a 'homemade' mood. We had a pool party to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we had to bring something. I was told that she wanted a caprese salad, but that she had discarded the idea because of the huge price of fresh mozzarella. That same day I had found this post through Pinterest! It was a sign, and we had to do it!

This recipe is AMAZING. I can't believe how well these turned out, and on the first try! I will never ever buy overpriced mozzarella from the grocery store again. One gallon of milk produces a pound of mozzarella. And the other ingredients are the "buy once - use forever" kind of ingredients, so this really is cheap. The best part: It really takes 30 minutes, and its a pretty continuous process, so even if you wanted to, it would be hard to take much longer than that. Do you imagine?! waking up in the morning and deciding "I want a sandwich with fresh mozzarella for breakfast!" and just making your own in 30 mins?! my life has changed.

Since we were already at the kitchen, we kept on getting distracted making other things. I made some delicious Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with recipes from The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook, and frosted some with strawberries and whipped cream, and some with vanilla frosting. Lilo made bread! I guess the next step is to get a garden, make our own salt, olive oil, flour, ...

Lets see how long this kitchen obsession lasts.
