My First Cupcakes (Vanilla)

So I overcame my fears and decided to make cupcakes. Lilo gave me "The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook" for our anniversary, and it was just tempting me too much. So I made them. I made a couple of changes from recommendations that I found online about baking at high altitude, but they still were not perfect. Actually, they are far from perfect. They collapsed a bit, so the center of them has a valley. Also, the cake itself is sooooo airy. It feels like there is only air in there. I don't know if I should blame the altitude or my abilities, but I have the feeling that it was a combination of the two.

These are the my first cupcakes. Also, this is the third time I ever eat a cupcake. So obviously I don't have much clue about how they actually turned out. All I know is that the cake consistency is not right. But I also know they are super tasty. I'll try them again when I move to sea level, because it seems like they have a lot of potential. I, on the other hand, may not have the potential necessary to make it work, but we'll see!

The frostings turned out different even though they are from the same recipe. This happened because I was lazy when making the yellow one, and instead of letting the butter reach room temperature on its own I put it in the microwave and accidentally heat it too much. Oops
