Berkeley winter greens

Another one of our Sunday walks. It seems like we may be leaving Berkeley soon, and now I'm feeling nostalgic of things as we live them. The weather has been so dreamy these last weeks, and we've been trying to explore our town a lot more.

Here's another Sunday walk. We had some Korean food and went to our favorite ice cream place.

Urban Life Love

I always wanted to live in a real city; where I could walk 5 minutes to get anything I needed, where I didn't need a car to do anything, and where I would live surrounded by lots of people from everywhere in the world! However, I also really like doing things outdoors often. Because of that, I never felt too attracted to cities like NY or Chicago. I never even considered The Bay Area because I had never been to the west coast, but I am so happy that I ended up here.

Almost every afternoon, after I get home from the university, Lilo and I walk 10 minutes to the Monterrey Market. At this point the sun is going down, so the light is beautiful and warm. We walk to the market to get fruit or vegetables. On the way there we get to see all sorts of weird plants that people have in their yards, and every week they look different. Then, on the way back, the fog starts creeping in, and it gets a bit more cold. By the time we are home the sun is covered by fog, and we are ready to relax. It has become a very nice routine!

On the Road: The End

About a week ago we finally made it to the Bay Area. We drove here from Salt Lake City, and went straight to trying to find a home. We had a couple of days to walk around San Francisco, and although we didn't get to see too much, we realized that we moved to an incredible city!

Throughout the drive from SLC the landscape went from this....
...to this.
California is an incredible state, and I can't wait to explore it as much as I can. The moment we crossed the border, the landscape changed into something that you only see in the movies. With mountains and lakes right on the side of the road. This was the perfect ending to our long long trip.

Looking for a place to live in this area is very hard, especially when you are on a budget. But eventually we found something! Since then we have been settling in, and I have been preparing for the beginning of classes. Sadly, I will not have much time for adventure or interestingness in my life, so we will see what this blog becomes. Hopefully it won't die!!

Good luck to anyone who is starting classes this week!

We Reached The Bay!

Yesterday we arrived in Berkeley!
We drove in from Salt Lake City at 7pm last night (more posts about the rest of our road-trip soon) and went straight to see an apartment that we found on craigslist. Then we checked in to our hotel, where we will be staying for a couple of nights until we find another place to stay, and we went to bed after watching a TV show to calm our nerves down.

In the middle of the morning we decided to drive to the Berkeley marina for a break away from the city noise and stress. There we pretended to feed pelicans for a bit.

This morning we decided to unload the car in a storage room, since we were scared of it getting broken into (or stolen!) and we went out to look at another apartment. After that, we hiked around looking for "For Rent" signs with no success, and now we are off to see anoooother apartment. Apartment hunting is quite an adventure!

We also found this funny hut on the side of the road. It was called the Brazil Fresh Squeeze Cafe.
Who knows? Maybe I'll end up walking by it every day to class! It would cheer up my mornings.

Hopefully we will find a place to live soon, and we will be able to explore San Francisco a bit before classes start.

Good luck to us!
